The Ebola Orphan ‘s Prayer Poem by sallieu sall

The Ebola Orphan ‘s Prayer

Dear God in your heaven take away this endless pain

The bitter memories that is becoming nightmares again

A day without your family is bad but without food is worse

Abused and bashed for a disease I didn't curse

‘Welcome to our world the new street king'

As the mosquitoes bites and the flies sing

Reminding me the pleasure of my yesterday‘s pillow

This table my bed, in prayer a hallow

Give me a grandma that will sing me sweet lullaby

And wrap me in her lappa as the wind blows by

A grandpa who teaches me what is love

And help to search for my little lost dove

Give a mother who will tell me a story

Of brave men of war who returns with glory

Give me a father who will wipe away my sorrow

And promise me of a better tomorrow

An uncle who will show me care

In times of trial and in my deepest despair

Give me an aunt who will feed me palm oil with garri

In those moments when I'm hungry

Give me a brother who will help me fly my kite

In those moments when I mount it but don't get it right

Give me a sister who will scold me to school

When I am wrapped in bed feeling December's cool

Give me another Doctor Khan who will be my hero

When I am in doubt and motivation is Zero
