The Eagle Poem by Burt Collins

The Eagle

The most stellar bird I know
Is one of tufts of nerve
whose steely stare can hypnotize
and claw can bare a bone

In what disguise does sovereign reign? '
With ocher eyes and simple diadem
What strength a monarch has
when spectacle was not the aim

In who's woods the Eagle sits?
None but his own!
And whose sky the Eagle glides?
Agnostic bird! His own!
