The Drummer Beneath Poem by Adeoye Adetoba

The Drummer Beneath

Does rhe way i dance angers you?
Or my gyrating steps give you discomfort?
Does the way i wind and wiggle
Makes you boil with concealed hatred?
I'm sorry if i'd caused you such displeasures.
I'm no longer within the rhythm of your beats.
I no longer dance on the ground you've prepared for me.

You saw me danced upon waters
And your jaws parted in desbelief.
You searched for who beats the resounding
Drums that heralded my celebration
Only the melodious sounds you heard.
My drummer is beyond the limits of your incursion.
He lies deep beneath the waters,
Tirelessly dishing out melodious beats.
