The Door Is Open Poem by Donna McCord

The Door Is Open

Rating: 4.5

I will never try to stop your leaving, it's up to to you to stay
If leaving here is easier, don't let us stand in your way
But this door will not stand open, it's my defense against the cold
It's all I have to lean on should you still decide to go.

So please make up your mind, let the chips fall where they may
Let me live in peace tonight knowing this was the only way
But this door will not stand open, nor will my mind and heart
Whatever you decide will give us both a brand new start.

A door is made of wood, and meant to swing both ways
My heart however feels real pain and my head will ache for days
But this door will not stand open I'll feel peace some way some how
So take my hand or walk away but let's finish this right now.
