The Dog Of Despair Is With You Poem by Francis Duggan

The Dog Of Despair Is With You

The dog of despair is with you and from you won't go away
And you feel the World's against you and you're having a bad day
But you are not the only one to feel this way I once heard a wise woman say
That for every worry we know as we age a hair of gray.

You need a little laughter with that none to compare
For to lighten up the spirit and free the heart of care
That laughter is the best of medicine only happens to be true
And if you always look sad faced few wish to talk to you.

A smile it can work wonders it brightens up the face
And attracts others to you that's always been the case
And everytime that you laugh you spread the gift of joy
Life is too short for worrying we soon grow old and die.

One of my neighbours is so withdrawn he always looks so sad
His wife to him so different for life's small blessings glad
Their only child a teenage daughter with smile dimples on her face
In such a happy family he does seem out of place.

The dog of despair is with you though life for you not all bad
You do not know how to smile and you always look so sad
You do not have a friend and few wish to talk to you
For to lighten up your heart you need a laugh or two.
