The Devil Thought

In His image, the Father made
From mud, a perfect man
The flesh, of whom was not to fade
Eternal! Was the plan

Life’s breath God gave in man to dwell
The Ghost, assigned at birth
Would neither cease nor go to hell
But live; to rule the earth

But Satan, plagued with selfish lust
Full jealousy and pride
Observed whom God had formed from dust
And vowed to turn the tide

The moment came, through Adam’s wife
He’d lead mankind astray
To man he knew; he’d give death’s knife
If Eve would disobey

Reduced to mortal flesh and bone
Confined in walls of sin
Now man can feel his heart of stone
Condemned through guilt within

Yet all was in the Father’s sight
He knew; what must be done
It hurt, to see His children’s plight
So God sent Christ His Son

Now Satan knows that soon will dawn
The day he’ll see no night
When all in Christ who’ve been reborn
Will rise with robes of light

The war of wars will soon take place
It’s end, will see time cease
Then bride and Groom who’ll see God’s face
Will live through endless peace
