The Devil’s Impotent

The devil’s out to rob and kill
He’ll cheat whom God will save
Deceive them from His perfect will
And lead them to the grace

He’s impotent to all but lies
Deceit’s his only course
No truth’s behind his sweet disguise
No strength’s within his force

Misery reigns in Satan’s hoards
Since Christ was seen to die
Knowing in hell there’s no rewards
However much they lie

Too late the truth they’ve come to see
Too late was wisdom’s dawn
They know Christ’s blood will set us free
And through His word reborn

Through lust they plant their wicked seed
Through doubt they seep inside
Festooned with Satan’s luscious weed
Not few deceived, have died

Not few are found within his bed
Even professing light
Not always are our shepherd’s led
Not always are they right

Yet heed authority’s high command
Consider God’s elite
Let conscience rule and understand
Man’s reign is short and sweet

Deceit, with Satan’s throne will fall
Liars will end in jail
But those found true at Jesus’ call
Will stand and never fail…
