The Desert Poem by Rajagopalan Kumar

The Desert

Sand sand everywhere no place for caravan to land
The camel, only travel across the ocean of sand
Lo! There appears an oasis of nectar, a scene so rare
Hope that is not a mirage running into nowhere.

Scorching heat of the day, icy cold of the night
Sprouts of cacti wait for manna from heaven
Life still exists in all that lonely land, so barren
Moving dunes of sand, a beauty from a bird's eye sight.

Changing patterns on the sea of gravel and sand
Occasional flash flood water lines crossing in blue
Designs of oasis patterns strewn across the land
A kaleidoscopic beauty from a bird's eye view.
