The Defiance Of Spirit Poem by Jaime Montanez Salcedo

The Defiance Of Spirit

Rating: 5.0

Restless Spirit! Though you bind in the thought,
And your defiance reaches to all we ought,
To share and love all for which we were born,
With your silence our world would be forlorn,
Justice and fairness would be ignore,
Most of all, life would be deceived ever more.
In your inspiration and defiance,
However trivial or of influence
Had guided us to change in what we find,
From the savage Ape to the Human kind,
Sometimes for the better, others for the worse,
But always impatient for deeds diverse.
With even step, steadfast and secure,
From vanity and follies you abjure
In your aim to communicate the word,
Teaching senses to share what was seen or heard,
While enhancing the faculties to unfold
What writing, art and music preciously hold.
To injustice your dissent is not mute,
Lamenting burdens of the destitute
In suffocating anger of despair,
Seemingly breathing in space out of air.
To the incongruities of life so unfair,
Your defiance to nothing can compare,
And tempting daring fate, hapless no more,
Insists defiantly to settle the score,
No less, David's Challenge to Goliath's aim,
And the oppressor you must put to shame.
The secrets of sciences seeks to obtain,
Guided by faith into the unknown can't abstain,
Thus conquest of the earth you overcame,
And if ought else the Universe to claim.
