The Dear Deer Poem by Emma Inkin

The Dear Deer

Rating: 5.0

I saw one night,
Striding the woods,
Several green knights
Hidden by hoods.

Coming from the village,
Venturing in the snow,
What a strange image,
A beautiful one, though.

But

They brought violence into nature,
My house was now sick,
A bad case of cruel creatures,
Bearing shinny sticks.

I saw their faces,
Attacked by the wind,
They spotted traces,
One of the men grinned.

- I know what left these
but where could it be?
The tall one said.
- Shush everyone! Freeze!
And slowly towards me
He turned his head.

Here, by the iced lake,
I fell in a heap,
And without a shake,
They put me to sleep.
