it's been a long ago,
I loved the love once
love loved me back
by now someone's dream you are, you are my dear
no life beyond you.
I still love thee in pain
I remember the days we spent
dreams we built,
days are old, the time has come.
I still remember thee
but the love never loved me again...

The emotion of love lingers long after the source of stimulation is gone, this is so because love is a spiritual experience that affects all and sundry profoundly.
