The Cycle Poem by James Fanthorpe

The Cycle

Everything so beautiful through mood tempered sight
Such simple pleasure in all things no matter how trivial
Hope and excitement, opportunity galore
At last a chance to evoke pride from those who's admiration I so crave

A bump in the road and the mood shifts to dark
Insignificance and inconvenience now armed with the tools to attack
An outburst or tear no great distance away
No disguise can now hide the eyes and tones of disapproval

One kindness restores the balance
Middle ground suddenly like a stability so craved and appreciated
Complacency now waits to set in and give rise to itchy feet
Now I long for a kindness or compliment to restart the cycle
