The Cuckoo Calls Poem by Goutam Dutta

The Cuckoo Calls

The cuckoo calls!
Relentlessly,
Almost begging,
Cajoling,
Beseeching,
Shrill in intensity.
It's untiring effort aimed at
piercing
the concrete walls,
The enveloping shroud of worries and anxiety and Breaking,
the hypnotic spell of dreams
of a future rosy!

Hark! Lend a ear!
O fast evolving intolerant man!
Listen to the cuckoo's call.
Its the only chance to save spring.
And delay,
the onset of harsh
Rude summer!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Mornings in spring time are made melodious by the calling of the cuckoo. Its call is intense, almost to the point of begging, as if it is requesting us to hold on to springtime
