The Crying Angel Poem by Mariam de Haan

The Crying Angel

What angel sits there
Hugging a doll
With tears in her eyes

She slowly whispers
Secrets in her ear
With tears in her eyes

Who but that doll sees?
The nights she spends
With tears in her eyes

Her mother doesn't understand
Why everyday she wakes
With tears in her eyes

Her father knows
As he puts a finger to her lips
He holds her tight,
And rapes her every night.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was always horrified as to how a father can actually do something so evil as to take their child's innoncence. I have always heard stories of child rape but it was not until this year that I knew someone who was said to have commited it.

Mona(not her real name) is a 5 year old girl. Her father has been raping her ever since the death of her mother in2011. The little girl will tell you herself if you ask her and yet still her father is not in prison. This poem is my way of telling her story and all the other little girls that suffer from the same problem.
