The Cost Of Dignity Poem by RESHMI AJAYAN

The Cost Of Dignity

The first ever mistake she made, was
facing them with shining eyes,
whereas they expect a misty eyed belle
dissembling dignity with an open confession.
The second mistake she commited, was
being bold, both in words and in looks
which they thought was a sin.
Turning her back, she walked out on them
Grabbing a sash with red letter inscriptions:
‘Bold and Resolute - the mortal sins of a lady'.

Women are repressed and held in half regard throughout the world still, mostly due to religious nonsense. Standing up for their dignity can cause problems, but women are equal beings and deserve respect
