The Conqueror Poem by John Bannister Tabb

The Conqueror

He cloistered here a virgin Thought-
His vow of Chastity,
Whereto from year to year he brought
First-fruit of victory.
And here, his latest battle won
Beneath her panoply,
In death returns the champion
Within her walls to lie.
