The Cinders Of Life Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Cinders Of Life

not able to reach
for the stars

neither diamonds nor
glittering rubies

and so i started a
fire and put it off

on that isolated shore
in an island

and then i sit beside
the cinders

careful, knowing that
if i touch it,

i may get burned
and charred.
