The Cake Poem by Wael Karameh

The Cake

Standing at the same place we first met
Waiting for me, holding a cake…
As if we were celebrating without knowing
The last ride we will ever make…

There were no candles, no hugs, and no kisses
All the magic dreams turned out like superstitious…
Where were our hearts, our souls, and our hungry bodies?
We thought they will never stop from flying together…
Tell me what happened?
Yesterday we were living joyfully in a far star
Today we are dying in the coldness of my car…
Yesterday you were longing to see me
Today your words are trying to smash me…
Do you think I had the choice to be away?
To leave you hanging in the middle of the way?
No my darling it is not true
I didn’t mean to hurt you as I will never do
But most of the time our life’s obligations squeeze us….
We feel like running but in a nonmoving bus…
Happiness is running, we are running
Perhaps we can catch up before we die! ! !

Standing at the same place we first met
Waiting for me, holding his cake…
If you are trying to take revenge just remember
That we will be drowning together in the same lake…
Go, go and don’t look behind
Be with yourself, both of us need a small break…
To know the person, you only need to wait
To discover the inside, you really need to shake…
Be sure that Love will continue shining into my life
It had never let me down; it will never be a fake…
