The Cage Poem by Jonathon Agee

The Cage

That confined space,
Be fitting for one's pet.
Why am I here?
I belong to no one,
Other than myself.

Lies!
You belong to us!

I belong to me,
Not you.

Can you be so sure?
Haven't you seen the signs?

Of course i'm sure,
That sign,
Right there?

Yes.
Now sing to us my pet,
Sing your life away,
Sing that sweet song of sorrow.

No!
I am my own,
And no one else's!
I will never be your own!

Now dance for us,
My pet,
Dance.

Once this blade pierces your heart,
I shall be free!

Excellent!
