The Burlap Dress Poem by Bradley Flowers

The Burlap Dress

Rating: 5.0

There was a girl who walked into town,
She had a brown dress that her momma made.
But the burlap dress didn't look that great
And her momma said oh you gotta make do
And her momma said oh you gotta be strong

So she walked through town with her head held high
To pick up meds for her little sisters health
And on her way back the chrildren all laughed
They pushed her down and called names
But then a little boy sliped and she pulled him back
She went down as the car came by

Oh father they say that a child doesn't know sin
But I tell you today that I need to make amends
