The Black Beat Poem by Gypsy Boy Ravey

The Black Beat

Oh how long shall I wait
Oh how long will it be
Until I'm blessed by faté
And the sun shines on me

Until the heralds sing
The sweet song of my tune
Until my ship comes in
To deliver my boon

In the silence of dawn
Or the deep black of night
In that death before morn
Do I study my plight

Stranded on the hot shore
Drifting in the cold sea
Always asking for more
That's what faté gave to me

The black beat of a drum
Has been my tune to long
Will my time ever come
Will my mind carry on
