'' The Birth Of The Saviour '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' The Birth Of The Saviour ''

It's Christmas time,
Let's all be jolly,
As we celebrate the birth of the Christ,
Bypass the grime,
Load up the trolley,
As by capitalism we are being enticed.

Get in the groove,
Eat and drink wine,
As the turkey and roast, you are carving,
From your mind remove,
Those in decline,
Why bother about those who are starving.

The intelligent being,
Who knows it all,
Needn't worry about refugees,
Forget what you're seeing,
Go on have a ball,
Treat them like a fatal disease.

The homeless and destitute,
Let's just ignore,
Put them to the back of your mind,
Remain resolute,
Eat and drink even more,
To their problems do remain blind.

The disabled and weak,
Cast to the side,
Ignore them and they might go away,
Make the elderly squeak,
Though we know it's snide,
We'll refuse to give them a say.

Forget the killing,
Across the Earth,
As genocide all over is rife,
The falsities we're instilling,
Creates a dearth,
We no longer care about life.

Our Christmas resolve,
Is alive and well,
By the birth of Christ we are bound,
Yet as we evolve,
His message we repel,
In materialism we're all being drowned.

I'm alright Jack,
Is so true to form,
It typifies the Humans behaviour,
Don't look back,
At the deathly storm,
As we celebrate?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The true meaning of Christmas is now buried beneath the mountains of debt and hypocrisy of those who would have you believe otherwise.
