The Bird And The Cage Poem by Danielle Martens

The Bird And The Cage

The bird, desperately
hurls itself at its
cage. Its wings,
frail from misuses,
beat feebly and almost in vain.
But the bars hold,
solid as steel, a silver
container that
glints in the sun,
as though to
remind the little
bird of the freedom
just beyond the bars.
