The Bee Before Me Poem by Aslam Marikar

The Bee Before Me

Rating: 4.2

It hits his head on a thick glass pane
Its will hardened to resist all pain.
Persistent in shattering everything but his brain
The busy bee is at it over and over again.

Its sees its future right before its eyes
; So do you him and I.
But It never leant of the quality of Glass
So it does not know like you him or I.

Albeit its determination an inspiration
Only to those that never saw a bee in such a situation.
Thus they gathered around with admiration.
To see a glass shattered by a bees aspiration.

As Gazing eyes fuel the flames of importance,
Filing once lungs with desire and conquest;
The busy bee finding a mere quick escape
Had now upon its shoulders flamboyant cape.

Once, twice thrice then four times and five
Gosh! now six, seven and even eight
As it keeps going on and on and now reaching twenty eight.
No glass shattered and no brain splattered
And the crowd dispersed as nothing really mattered.

Fueled by this new conquest
To prove wrong to all that showed disrespect
Leaving without saying goodbye!
The bee went on and on
As his hearts flames now grew to ravaging fires.
Melting his reason into a funeral pyre
Turning his thought into a ghost
And will into an obsession.

The new rapid thumping upon the glass
Was the first time a bee had persisted this far
And its drum call was heard to all near and far.
Awaking some while asleep
Attracting all that were board
And Disturbing those at work.

Upon a rostrum of amusement.
That the bee perceived as reverent;
As he was consumed by prepotence;
He could only hope that natures catastrophes would
Synchronize to create a divine moment
And the people would say
That one day a bee broke through a glass.
