The Battle In Syria Poem by Levi Oguike

The Battle In Syria

A history of civilisation
8000 years old
Ancient and modern
Now in complete
Ruins, because
Man has refused
To another love
Power more valuable
Than life
No one willing
To give in for peace
This failed generation
Of Syrians stand guilty
Of every crime
And sin against man
And their Creature
Pity, pity and pity
To humanity
Who feel little anguish
Over the pain and hurt
And quickly bring
This human calamity
To an end
And brutality to life
Cease.
Imagine the loss
And cost of reconstruction
The futility of war
Man learns nothing
From war and fighting..
Let peace and justice
Reconcile this season
Of Sacrifice universal.
