That Time Is Our Master Poem by Francis Duggan

That Time Is Our Master

Rating: 5.0

The former man among men is showing his age today
That time ages the best of them seems true to say
The Town's best athlete in his physical prime
Though this is going back many Seasons in time
In his early eighties showing the wear of life
I often see him and his octogenarian wife
On nice evenings in the park walking rather slow
One can say of them of better days they did know
Great grandparents married for six decades they have seen many years come and go
But in their life's twilight years time has become their foe
In his prime an admired champion track sprint athlete
Against the best in the country with success he did compete
That time is our master only true to say
The former man among men is walking slow today

You are very right in expression. That time is our master only true to say. This poem is very brilliantly penned.
