That Is Nature's Way Poem by Francis Duggan

That Is Nature's Way

'Tis a fact of life and facts do never lie
For the kestrel to live everyday a bird must die
To some that may seem cruel but that is Nature's way
Since the kestrel is born to be a bird of prey.

And grains and seeds birds of prey do not eat
They are entirely dependent on meat
With sharp strong claws and hook on point of bill
They are designed by Nature for to kill.

With trembling wings it hovers in the sky
The ground below it watches as it fly
For small animal or bird for it to kill
The power of death in it's sharp claws and hooked bill.

To all of her life forms Nature her gift of life give
And though some small creature must die for the kestrel to live
That is Nature's way she does give and receive
And for her dead children she never does grieve.
