That Face Poem by Robin Belyeu

That Face

Everyone has a face they hide
A face they try to keep inside
The face of their past
A face they have to battle
Even through their daily lives
Every now and again, that face tears through
And sometimes tears follow through
It breaks through but not for long
If you ever saw that face of mine
You would have been close
But if you knew me true
You would know id never let you
Not close enough to hurt me
Not even slightly
You could never do
You could never break through
My true emotion is no longer here
A smile will take place on my face
But inside it will never come true
So if I open up to you
Don't believe me when I say
I am not hiding anything from You
You should know better by now
That, That will never be true
