Text Message Poem by Rachel Grimes

Friendship,
Long although remote,
Torn within seconds.
Hurt from a casual comment.
For innocent parties,
Not for me

A line crossed.
No return.
Your message disgusts
Then life moves on.
For you,
Not for me

Sickness remains,
Photographs trashed,
Gifts discarded.
Your wife's pride obvious
Through posts and pictures,
I can't comment.
Friendship destroyed.
This is over now,
For me.

This is the poem I reviewed earlier. I really enjoy how you take seemingly small moments and give them larger context. In the case of this text message, I think there is an awful lot going on that is not seen in the writing but is in the larger story. I would have liked maybe a little more context as I got distracted by the line about the wife's pride...but I think that the poem has great merit. Really well done. I enjoyed reading. Refreshing really.

Texts can be dangerous. Too easy to send when upset or drunk, and too easy to misinterpret.
