Terning Older - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Terning Older - Lincoln Park Zoo

Young Inca terns do fly about.
They do "mustaches" now, they do,
Sign of maturity no doubt
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo.
Such mustache look a likes do be
Tufts of white feathers on each side
Of the bird beaks for all to see,
As a for sure growing up pride.
In the Bird House space of Free Flight
These growing youngsters fly to show
Off their new growths as they alight
Right next to you as through you go.

And in the next few months ahead
Their beaks and feet will turn bright red.
