Temagami Poem by Lone Dog

Temagami

Oh vast and wild Temagami,
Oh northern land of rocky shores,
My pining heart cries out for thee,
To you I must return once more.

Oh land of islands, land of lakes;
The realm of noble moose and bear.
There's something in my spirit wakes
When drifting thoughts transport me there.

Oh storied land of ages past,
When paddles broke your mirrored bays,
And wigwams of my people cast
Soft shadows in the twilight's haze.

Oh land of birth. Oh land of youth.
The mentor of all nature's ways.
You taught me thrift, respect and truth -
The values cherished all my days.

Oh vast and wild Temagami,
Oh rugged land that I adore.
Because my blood is one with thee,
To you I must return once more.
