Tell Time Poem by Lehlohonolo Selai

Tell Time

Dear Time
Should I remain concealed within your mercy
While moments saunter into the past
Show me then no more of your kindness

Dear Time
If mine pace proves ineffective in your sight
While change takes charge around my presence
Cut me loose and toss me far from your presence

Dear time
Should they be too strong, the castles I build in the air
And surpass reality in a way, mate
Awaken me swiftly I beg

Dear Time
If I have jumped too high frequently
And yet failed to scratch the surface at all
Fuel my feet unto the right path effectively

Dear Time
If my smile bears a million lies
Slap it off at once I plea
For I have come too far not to pretend
