Tell Them I Did It Poem by Ighile Mark

Tell Them I Did It

“Unlike sea of people, I like to rock the boat”
Emevwo Biakolo
Tell them:
The cat came in
with a knife –
red as blood
when chief
was calling for dreams –
hardly keeping his promise …
Tell them
why alarm must dance:
they sang a dirge
for the oracle
who acted a play
of prevention …
They are the doves at dawn –
walking in drum – ing steps
Still,
Tell them:
The night aches again
And the cloud, not at rest
Rains shall fall
and evil, washed away …
This earth-cloth
must not visit
the soiled house.
Tell them
To wash
To watch
And
To know
I did it!

' I did it ' - comes across very profound in texture.
