Tell Me Poem by Erin Taylor

Tell Me

Look at these eyes
these lips
this nose
look at this smile
these cheeks
this beauty
tell me
can you really
look at this forever?

My doors my gateways
they bounce from one world
to the next
Some are real
some aren't
some have windows
flooded with light
others only display
lands stripped of
mother nature's
impeccable beauty
but tell me
will you still
journey through them?

The nimble hands
that guide my heart's
strings to such inquiry
do not belong to insecurity
or doubt
or disbelief
more so to desperation
to a hopeless little girl
who wants to shine up
above with the stars
but knows what lurks
in the darkness
so tell me
these strings
will you sever them?

Do not mistake
my intrigue for
lost hope
for there are doors
not even I
can open
There are strings
nimble hands
can't even master
but please know
once you start
the descent
there's no going back
so tell me
please tell me
is your heart
a worthy price
for such a fall?
