Talking Poem by David Knox

Talking

I have to wonder day by day
as we talk as i say
hello and play the game of causerie
if you'd even talk to me
if i didn't talk to you
if I'm only visible because i engage
would you talk to me too?
am i back in the glass cage?
would you tell me how you feel
if i did not ask
what if i put on a mask
of silence, what if i stopped saying hi
would you let me walk away
would let me fade
even with this friendless we've made
would you talk to me if i didn't start to talk to you
i hope you would, i hope you would start it too
