Taj Mahal Poem by Tom Billsborough

Taj Mahal

Rating: 2.8

A prayer in pure white marble,
It raises up the soul
Through halls and minarets and domes
Towards a crescent moon
Aspiring to the stars,
Each glistening stone
A tear hewn out by grief
And the sure belief in Everlasting Love
Which one day they may share.
And in the pool's reflective mirror,
It kneels recumbent
In perpetual prayer.
In these white marble halls,
Oh Soul, you are at rest
Return to Him the Lord
At peace with Him
And He at peace with you...

Being an Indian, I was drawn by the title......! Yes, it is one of the marvels of architecture.... I am sure you are impressed by it....! A monument of love... 'A tear drop in the cheek of eternity'... that's how Tagore.. the famous Indian poet has described it! Enjoyed this beautiful poem!

Yes the tear reference was an acknowledgement of Tagore's wonderful phrase. Is there a more beautiful building in the world? I think the pool capturing its reflection adds an even greater spiritual dimension. Thank you, Valsa.
