Symphonic Interludes Poem by Thomas Bates

Symphonic Interludes

I woke this morning
To the bustling sounds of a symphony.
After some minutes passing
I silenced the radio and lay
In reflection
For a time.

Suddenly, a They Might Be Giants song
From the first album - track one:
"EVERYTHING RIGHT IS WRONG
AGAIN, " with it's quicker paces
And last slower interval leaped me out of bed, confused.
I counted down the time signature(s?)
With beat-drumming finger-taps
Onto my chest
And couldn't quite figure the song out.
A very humble
Sort of quick then fearful
Slower
Analysis in percussion
Accordion
Voice
Drum machine and
Fatally uncouth-full guitar.

"More, " I said. "Competent works
by madly
concerned geniuses."

Was i right? Or,
Do you
Think me wrong?
Either way, I say.

Either way.
