Survivor Poem by Gregory Huyette

Survivor

I'm a survivor in obstreperous times like these
Though I'm often knocked to my knees.
I have the will to arise and carry on
Until these turgid times are memories long gone.
Rather than complain about what my life should be,
I accept what the world has briefly offered me.
Then I do my best to improve my lot,
And share the benefits and attitude I've got.
I may not be a big winner or clever contriver.
Happiness derives from my pride as a survivor.
