Summer And Spring Bid Adieu Poem by AtreyaSarma Uppaluri

Summer And Spring Bid Adieu

Rating: 3.5

Six months we’ve served you with no buts; we weren’t iffy
A gift of vernal charm of col’r and melody
A treat to your eyes with our verdant canopy
A feast to your smell with our sweep of fragrancy
A tickle to your palate with our fruits plenty.

Now, please say, haven’t we, in turn, earned our space of rest
To recharge our body and spirits to their crest.
In time will be back for the seas’nal carnival
Meantime, Fall and Winter, would fill their carousal.

Our dream for dormancy in the year’s calendar
Is so colourful, in all its dazzling splendour -
Yellow, orange, fiery red and with all their tints.
“It’s time you changed your rent and ragged linen, ” Time hints.

Ere very long it will be chilly to the bones
No problem, no pity on us! No woeful tones!
We would just wrap ourselves in cool comfort – no moans!
In a vast quilt of many-layered snow – no groans!

[This is my maiden attempt at iambic hexameter. Criticism is welcome that I may improve myself.]
