Such Are The Memories Of The Days Of My Youth

Rating: 5.0

The warmth of the sun on my back,
The squish of mud between my toes,
A gentle wind riffling the surface of the Guadalupe,
Brambles of dewberries overhanging the bank,
Mulberries dangling from branches just above the water,
The sweet, tart, and tangy taste of the fruit on my tongue,
The musty smell of decaying cypress needles,
The cry of the Kingfisher in flight,
A stringer of goggle eyes and red eared perch,
Such are the memories of the days of my youth,
Heaven on earth!

We share a good many memories, it seems. Wonderful poem. If only my old car could carry me back to the (San Antonio-) Guadelupe. But this did. Thanks. I so enjoyed the mud of memories between my toes. This is a very fine poem - and I so needed pleasant dreams tonight.
