Street Poet Poem by Rati Saxena

Street Poet

That bellow used to resonate
in the squares of New York
against each war
against injustice
committed
to test our strength
That a single voice whose rage
would reverberate in the space
That voice was which entered the heart
through the gates of anguish
That voice, that was sung by
that happy hermit poet
whom people often dubbed as a street poet
The square of New York is still resonating
The voice of the poet is spreading, all over
in each corner of the world
flowing in his memory
The voice of the street poet isn´t that of a mere alley
but the world at large
