Stranger Places Poem by G J Salgado

Stranger Places

I brought you back
Put you in a box
Made up the things I lack
You tasted like home
Cut off and took your locks
Made you into my own

I heard the snakes hiss
Through your mouth
I kissed your lips
A way to let you out

You were my first
Taught you how to sing
I became your thirst
You taught me everything
Things became worse

We found ourselves again
It's our chance to rise
Keeping us hidden
Wearing your disguise

I put on your mask
Upon my own face
Mine at last
Leading into a stranger place

You heard the snakes
Hiss upon my lips
We became awake
Then you gave me a kiss

I was your first
Skipped the next verse
You became my thirst
It's about to get worse

I was your first song
I taught you everything
We did nothing wrong
You taught me how to sing

We've changed the masks
We've reversed our faces
We're each other at last
We've found stranger places

You watched me fade
You loved what we became
I became what you made
We found our own escape

You brought me back
Put me in a box
Made up the things you lack
I tasted like home
Cut off and took my locks
Made me into your own
