Stranger Poem by Daisy Pereira

Stranger

I turn every page of you
leafing through
I can see words and words and word
written about me
in a strange language.
water in the veins of the trees
clamour silently
unfamiliar phrases
meaning, I dont grasp
yet I feel

The sun divines a measure to express
a litany
that foliage sings.
The strange river echoes
incoherent tunes
incomprehensible
but felt in blood

strange time, strange moon,
strange strange fields
I understand, I go through
every page
once more
strangely everything written
was quickly erased
water on water, strange sun,
you are a stranger to my heart.
