Stop Raping Planet Earth Poem by Raimi Babatunde

Stop Raping Planet Earth

I am sorry for invading your territory
and caressing your naked flesh
robbing you of your purity
and causing chaos in your paradise
and turning it to my Mecca.

I thought you couldn't fight for yourself.
Then you invoked the global warming
and the greenhouse effect
that have eroded my habitat.

Like the days of Moses,
flood and erosion run their cause
in my river of misery.

Now, you fight without a word
and the canopy that once sheltered me
has been stripped to the roots.

All I seek now is restitution
Even though I drew the first blood?
I come to you like the prodigal son
Please forgive.

Stop deforestation. Stop re-claimations.
Stop raping planet earth.
Let love lead.
