Stolen Innocence Poem by Monica Paris

Stolen Innocence

She stays to herself
her room is her shelter

Afraid the scars will be seen
she hides in the shadows

She’s broken
and numb

Ashamed of the
dirt that covers her

She’s lost
and confused

She feels no one
will believe her

She was just a little girl
when he told her not to tell

It only happened once
but that was enough to wreck her world

The bottle became too much
and he took advantage of a child

But no matter how sorry he says he is
it will never change what he did to her
