Still Waters Poem by Britt Veloso

Still Waters

There's a lump of cry in my throat
No storms of rain or pain have cleared it out
Swallowing it down has done nothing
It comes up and up and up
Like an overwhelming wave no one was expecting
Everyone is watching and it's only expanding
Alone and on display, there's no more to do
Whether big or small, it will be gone soon
The furthest it's come up I still had no luck
I try and try until I just give up
Until I have died
