Still In My Head Poem by Khumo Mhlanga

Still In My Head

You defy supplication...
Repeated requests for my mind to be purged of you
Only fueling an increased yield of all things 'regal'

Feeling betrayed by my visions
Your pervasive presence in the crevices of my soul
Utter invasion!

So I make a valiant effort -
'bound' and 'gagged' by self-imposition, I refuse to reach out to you:
Not by any of the means putting 'hello' at fingertips' end

Probably best this way...
But I still go into my day wondering what it's like
To love you - and have reciprocity
