Still A Child Tomorrow Poem by Walter Dapliyan

Still A Child Tomorrow

Dearest child...
To look through your eyes;
Wonderingly curious.
To smile like you smile;
Dazzlingly soft sunshine.
To sleep like you sleep;
As deep and calm as a lake.

Beloved child...
Soon you will grow
And know there's sorrow
In tomorrow.
Your youth will grow old,
Your dreams may not unfold.
You will see that your world
Is not as simple as it used to be.
You will know that an adult's smile
Is not what it seems to be.
You will have worries in your bed,
And sleep will be short and flighty.

Even so...
Find faith in God,
Find strength in hope,
Find courage in love,
Find humility in success,
Find resilience in failure,
Find devotion in your duty.

So, stay happy and gay,
Let worries be far away,
For today is your day.

My child...
See and wonder,
Smile dazzlingly gentle,
Sleep calm and deep.
May tomorrow be kind
And your innocence remain.
