Stellar Poem by William B. Deutscher

Stellar

Stars observed on the edge of rushing time
Are faltering specks from a vacant past,
Distant to the point of absurdity,
Laid out in a black void of stellar space
That might just as well be eternity,
And not at all like those fanciful lights
We domesticate to a twinkle, bright
Ornaments for the familiar night,
Sweet stuff of children's verses and old songs.
