Staying Intouched Poem by Christina Simmons

Staying Intouched

Saturday nite there's nowhere to go
Come together - maybe reunion in the making
Telephone call to show how much I care
A friendly chat is always a good idea
Make a date - go out! Get pissing drunk

Go on...give it a go! Alcoholic beverage might be on offer
Staring into a friendly face but no can do
Lovers new/old - friends are having fun with each other
Playfully the eyes says it all: flirting lavishly with each other
Laughing, beaming, sparkling white teeth!

Watching fellow drinkers sharing a pint or two
Not to my taste much prefer a vanilla milk-shake
Sipping on a straw until the last drop of slurping sound
Finish gulping it down my throat - Adam's Apple exposed
So bored ready to shed tears: moi! NO cry in public

Music moving rhythmically with heartbeat
Want to rise move my feet bopping along sweetly
But sitting here instead - with unlimited perseverance
reminiscing about friends long gone - yesteryear
It's fine staying in touch with old mates
